Heart diseases and unmet challenges.

Vascular diseases can lead to heart attack or stroke. But many treatments for these diseases target systematic risk factors. Such as reducing blood pressure and cholesterol rather than directly repairing existing damaged blood vessels.
In vascular diseases like atherosclerosis, the walls of arteries thicken and harden which disturb blood flow, that leads to a build up of plaque,which could ultimately lead to blocked arteries.
The heart beats about 2.5 billion times over the average life time, pushing millions of blood to every part of the body. This steady flow carries with it Oxigen, fuel, harmones, other compounds, and host of essential cells. It also moves away the waste products of metabolism.
When the heart stops, essential functions fail, some almost then and there.
